Senior Judge David K. Smith has sentenced Shaquae Divine Robinson, formerly of Dalton, in Whitfield County Superior Court to 45 years in prison without parole for aggravated assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and use of a knife during the commission of a felony.
Evidence was presented Nov. 28-30. Whittle called nine witnesses and presented 31 exhibits including DNA evidence that the blood found on the knife in Robinson’s pocket matched the DNA of the victim.
Assistant District Attorney Ian Whittle argued for the state and introduced Robinson’s 16 previous convictions, which included four violent misdemeanors and three felonies.

A man who dodged a 25-year prison sentence when a drug conviction was overturned last year got more good legal news Wednesday when two more drug charges were dropped: two counts of possession of illegal drugs, heroin and cocaine, with the intent to distribute.
"{My Client] has asserted for some time that there is not enough evidence against him and had been pressing for his day in court," Whittle said.
Whittle also argued that his client was now worthy of at least having a bond set in light on his new legal status.

A teenage gang member was convicted on Friday on 12 felony counts.
Attorney Whittle called five witnesses and presented 23 exhibits including a video of the armed robbery and a recorded confession of the Defendant.
The evidence established that Perez-Lucas and another individual, Sergio Alberto Perez, held a cashier and customers at gun point while they robbed the La Esquinita store on Hamilton Street. Each defendant had a hand gun during the robbery. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were present in the store during the robbery.
Alexandro Agapito Perez-Lucas is an 18-year-old, documented member of the Sureño street gang.

A man who stole a car at gunpoint while fleeing Stafford County deputies who were pursuing him after a shooting was ordered Tuesday to serve 12 1/2 years in prison.
He was convicted of six charges earlier this year, including carjacking, eluding police, shooting at an occupied vehicle and two counts of attempted malicious wounding.
Facing a potential life sentence, Defense Attorney Ian Whittle successfully argued to minimize his client's sentence.
